The Aspetuck Land Trust Blog

Aspetuck Land Trust Inc. is a non-profit Connecticut Corporation devoted to preserving open space and the natural resources of Easton, Fairfield, Weston and Westport for the benefit of the public. It was formed in 1966 by leading area conservationists. Through generous gifts of land, continued efforts of volunteers, and cooperation from town agencies, the Aspetuck Land Trust has preserved over 1,700 acres of land, which will be maintained in a natural state in perpetuity.

Schine Natural Playspace: It Takes a Village

We had another build session on Friday, where a great group of people came to put some finishing touches on existing structures (tower, rockpit, bear's den) and build some new ones (teepee, stick stack, tea party table, sorting table). I am amazed at the huge amount of time people have generously given to this project. I was there with my family for a few hours and it is about the best possible volunteering project you could ask for - outside in the beautiful weather, in a peaceful/lovely setting, doing interesting/creative work with found materials, and then getting the immediate payoff of watching couple of kids having a blast. It's hard work but fun!
