It was formed in 1966 by leading area conservationists. Coming soon: Natural Playground at Schine Arboretum

This weekend is the first build session for the new natural playground being constructed at Schine Arboretum in Westport. The goal of the playground is to get families and young children playing in and with nature. Two land trust volunteers, Lou Bacchiocchi and Scott Akers, have been working hard for the past few months gathering materials and building the frameworks for the play areas, which will include areas for climbing, sand/rock play, building, and imaginative play. A larger group of volunteers will be working on May 1st and 8th to put the finishing touches on the play areas. When completed, the Natural Playground will be a great reason to go for a walk in the woods with your young child, and we hope the journey will be as much fun as the destination.
